Thanks for a terrific program. Out of the box and without even looking at the manual, I used it to help me find a problem in a script I had written and optioned a couple years ago, but attracted no further interest. Then I read the manual, and have since been using it to outline a novel.

I was intrigued enough by the recent write-up of "Dramatica" in the current issue of the Writers Guild Journal to order a copy of the theory book from your company. I am pausing after just a few pages to give you this feedback: The first four pages are perhaps the most intellectually elegant and profoundly reframing words I have *ever* read concerning the idea of "story."

I've just purchased version 1.0 of Dramatica for the Macintosh, and I'm writing to say how much I like the product. I found Dramatica easy to use and arrived at a storyform after my first session with the product.

It's a wonderful program, Melanie, and I appreciate your work. Dramatica certainly makes it much easier to outline a story and the characters.

Congratulations on a great software! I've only studied Dramatica for three weeks now, but am fascinated by its comprehensiveness. I'm currently in the process of rewriting a script that I had nearly completed a month ago. Dramatica pointed out the weaknesses in my story structure in the first seven days after installation.

On the whole have found the program extremely useful in my work. (I am a tv writer with 10 years experience).

If the computer magazines ever rated the Customer Service departments of today's software companies, Screenplay would receive top honors, for sure (especially for your handling of customer relations). If you ever need an endorsement, just call me.

"Dramatica" I came to know by a friend of mine and hesitated first because it seemed me to be too "puffed up" and complicated - who needs 32,768 Storyforms? Anyway, I changed my mind when I saw my friend becoming a typical "victim of the Dramatica effect". As it seems he infected some of us... I will keep you informed about my experiences with your software when I used "Dramatica" for my next movie project.

Love the product, by the way. Lots to learn, but is better than a good dozen books I have on Plot and Theory.

As I said on-line I think you've got a great program here, one I'm looking forward to getting to know better. It's so easy to criticize, isn't it? Writers of all people should know that. As you say though, those who are satisfied are likely too busy writing to bother speaking up. I'm glad I did.

Obviously I would not be writing if I had not derived a great deal of enjoyment and many productive hours from Dramatica. It is an impressive and graceful achievement.

First, Kudos to your product. YOU stumbled across my name from some mailing list and it was love at first sight. I'm a physician, computer techie, inventor and writer. My computer interests have mainly been in expert systems, so I'm naturally excited about Dramatica. Being a detail person, I often lose sight of the big picture, which is impossible if you are using Dramatica. I particularly like the requirement that all the storyforming elements must be in place BEFORE storytelling can begin. Logical, but so often writers are anything but that.

Another attractive feature about Dramatica is its ability to help you figure out why something doesn't seem to be quite right about your story. Niggling little story holes, logical inconsistencies, etc. become apparent in Dramatica.

This "learning curve" is merely time spent becoming familiar with the new approach Dramatica applies to age-old writing technique. Once you give it time, the magic begins to unfold and I found my story becoming much deeper and enjoyable to write.

I'd recommend this program to any writer looking to add deeper meaning into their stories. My favorite section is the area that creates various reports based on the storyforming/storytelling questions you've answered. These reports create summaries of your story and cite examples based on the answers you've provided. As you read these reports, you feel great! You see you are making progress and it's presented in a professional manner.

I've tried other programs and they are all fine products, but Dramatica takes you to deeper levels. These are the places your audience wants you to take them. These are the places that sell stories.

If I were to rate the programs I've tried, I'd give top prize to this one. I first read about it in Writers Digest (1/95) and was curious since it was the only one rated "excellent" in the story development software category.

Now I see why.
